An Overview of Zantrex-3 and Pregnancy
Zantrex®-3 is a popular weight loss supplement that contains a variety of active ingredients, including quite a bit of caffeine. Most of these ingredients have not been shown to be safe for use during pregnancy.
Is Zantrex-3 Safe During Pregnancy?
Zantrex-3 contains a very large dose of caffeine, as well as several other active ingredients. It is often recommended that pregnant women limit their caffeine intake
(see Caffeine and Pregnancy), and it is not known if the other active ingredients are safe for pregnant women. Additionally, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, not usually a time to be dieting or trying to lose weight.
Because so little is known about the risks of using Zantrex-3 products during pregnancy (and because of the lack of clear benefit for taking Zantrex-3), it is probably a good idea for pregnant women to avoid Zantrex-3 products.
If you are pregnant, do not take Zantrex-3 without your healthcare provider's approval. Also, if you are concerned about your weight gain during pregnancy, please talk with your healthcare provider
(see Pregnancy Weight Gain for additional information).
