Xylitol is a sugar substitute that does not contain any carbohydrates. It is useful for people with diabetes because it does not cause the significant rise in blood sugar caused by real sugar. When used medicinally, xylitol may also be beneficial for preventing cavities, treating dry mouth, and preventing ear infections in children. You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking this product if you are pregnant, have any allergies, or are breastfeeding.
