Xenical Results (Cont.)

Xenical Results for Other Factors

In studies, researchers also measured several other factors in addition to weight loss. The results showed that after one year, people taking Xenical lowered their total cholesterol by 2 percent, while those taking the placebo increased their total cholesterol by 5 percent. For LDL cholesterol ("bad cholesterol"), the Xenical group lowered their levels by 4 percent, while the placebo group raised theirs by 5 percent. In addition, people taking Xenical lowered their blood pressure and blood sugar, while those taking the placebo raised their blood pressure and blood sugar.

Interestingly, a four-year study of Xenical showed that taking the drug can reduce the risk of developing diabetes by 34 percent, on average.

Final Thoughts on Xenical Results

Clearly, Xenical is not a "miracle" weight loss medication. However, it is a proven medication that has been shown to promote a gradual and modest weight loss. In addition, Xenical improves several other measures (such as cholesterol and blood pressure), probably due to its effect on weight.
