This diet is based on the fact that people that live around the Mediterranean Sea tend to live longer and have fewer cases of cancer and cardiovascular problems than Americans. This has been attributed to their diet. They eat lots of veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts, beans, and oils, and tend to avoid sugars, eggs, and cheese.
The diet focuses on having fish or seafood two to three times weekly and limiting red meats. This diet does not count calories -- it only teaches you how to cook and make healthier eating decisions. This diet can decrease your bad cholesterol and lower blood pressure, and allows a glass of red wine daily.
