#3/4/5 (Three-Way Tie): Mayo Clinic Diet

This diet goes along with the book The Mayo Clinic Diet: An Essential Guide and focuses on changing your eating habits for life. This book helps you follow the unique food pyramid that researchers from the Mayo Clinic have developed.

This diet has two phases: Lose It and Love It. Your first two weeks are the Lose It phase and can be the most difficult part. During these two weeks, you will start to change your eating habits without counting calories. The book has 15 different habits to either add, such as snacking on fruits and veggies, or to ditch, such as eating sweets and eating while watching TV.

The second phase is the Live It phase. This phase teaches you how many calories to eat so that you can still lose a pound or two per week. It doesn't focus on counting every calorie; instead, it teaches you portion sizes and how to limit your portions. So, for example, you can have four or more servings each of fruits and veggies, three servings of fats, five servings of carbohydrates, and four of protein/dairy instead of keeping track of calories. This diet is focused on changing your habits for good, not just until you lose those unwanted pounds.
