So before you start to unfairly criticize yourself if you aren't fitting into your prematernity wardrobe in a matter of weeks after giving birth, try to realistically look at your situation. It's important to understand that rushing your body back into shape too quickly may not be in your best interest, or even healthy, as strenuous exercise in the early postpartum weeks can interfere with allowing the uterus to heal.
 
It's also important to discuss your diet and exercise routine with your healthcare provider to make sure you aren't doing anything that may disrupt your healing process or your care for your baby. In many cases, healthcare providers recommend that women avoid dieting for at least the first six weeks after childbirth so your body can recover. If you are breastfeeding, it's also important to take into consideration that rapid weight loss can reduce your milk supply.
