TrimSpa and Pregnancy

Because so little is known about TrimSpa and pregnancy, and because pregnancy is not a time to be losing weight, it is generally recommended that pregnant women not take TrimSpa products. Many TrimSpa products contain caffeine and other stimulants, which women who are pregnant should avoid. If you are taking TrimSpa and pregnancy occurs, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider.

An Overview of TrimSpa and Pregnancy

TrimSpa^® products are very popular weight-loss supplements, each of which contains several different active ingredients. Almost all of these ingredients have not been shown to be safe for use during pregnancy.

TrimSpa Safety During Pregnancy

Many TrimSpa products contain stimulants (such as caffeine or guarana), as well as several other active ingredients (such as hoodia). It is often recommended that pregnant women limit their caffeine intake (see Caffeine and Pregnancy), and it is not known if the other stimulants are safe for pregnant women. Additionally, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, generally not a time to be dieting or trying to lose weight.

Because so little is known about the risks of using TrimSpa products during pregnancy (and because of the lack of clear benefit for taking TrimSpa), it is usually recommended that pregnant women avoid TrimSpa products.
