Does Phentramine Work?
No clinical trials have been published to verify that Phentramine is safe or effective for weight loss. The manufacturer claims that Phentramine helps with weight loss because it contains hoodia. However, hoodia has not been shown to be safe or effective for weight loss either. Also, many hoodia products actually contain little or no hoodia, because a large supply is not available at this time.

Phentramine™ is a non-prescription weight loss supplement. (It is not the same as phentermine, a prescription medication). Phentramine has not been proven to be effective for weight loss.
The herbal supplement has never been studied in clinical trials, so there is no way to know if it really works for weight loss. The manufacturer claims that Phentramine works because it contains hoodia. Hoodia comes from a cactus-like plant and is a relatively new and popular ingredient in weight loss products. However, hoodia has not been shown to be either safe or effective for weight loss, and many hoodia products on the market have been shown to contain little or no hoodia (because a large supply of hoodia is not currently available).
Phentramine contains bitter orange (listed on the label as Citrus aurantium), which is a stimulant that may not be safe. Phentramine also contains guarana, and the active component of guarana is caffeine, which is also a stimulant. While stimulants may help people lose weight, they can also be dangerous.
No studies have been published concerning the effectiveness of Phentramine. This product is not the same as phentermine, a weight loss drug that has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because Phentramine is an herbal supplement, it can be sold without any evidence that it is effective (or even safe).
