Weight Loss Home > Relacore and Breastfeeding

No studies have been done on Relacore and breastfeeding, so it is unclear whether the weight loss supplement is safe to take while nursing an infant. However, because breastfeeding is usually a time of increased caloric need, it is not a time to consider dieting. If you are taking Relacore and breastfeeding is something you are considering, talk to your healthcare provider.

Is Relacore Safe While Breastfeeding?

Relacore® weight loss supplements have not been shown to be safe for anyone, including women who are breastfeeding. The products contain many different active ingredients, almost none of which have been shown to be safe for use during breastfeeding.

Relacore and Breastfeeding: What Does the Research Say?

For most of the active ingredients in Relacore products, no research has been done to see if they pass through breast milk (or if they would cause any problems in a nursing infant). Breastfeeding is typically a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, not a time for dieting. It is important to eat a well-balanced diet while breastfeeding.

Given the unknown risks of using Relacore while breastfeeding and the lack of scientific evidence to suggest that the supplement is effective, it seems that the risks of using Relacore exceed any possible benefits, especially for women who are breastfeeding.

Talking With Your Healthcare Provider About Relacore and Breastfeeding

You should talk with your healthcare provider about Relacore and breastfeeding. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, the two of you can make a shared decision about Relacore and breastfeeding that is right for you.
