Does Apple Cider Vinegar Cause Side Effects?As with any medication or supplement, side effects are possible with apple cider vinegar. In fact, there have been a few reports of serious side effects of apple cider vinegar.
Possible Apple Cider Vinegar Side EffectsApple cider vinegar (as well as any other vinegar) may cause a few stomach problems, due to its high acid content. Consuming a large amount of apple cider vinegar may cause nausea or can make heartburn or indigestion worse. Because apple cider vinegar has never been studied, it is not known what other side effects are possible. There are a few side effects that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Severe throat pain or difficulty swallowing (there have been reports of throat burns due to apple cider vinegar tablets)
- Low potassium in the blood (which has been reported as a possible side effect)
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, hives, itching, swelling of the mouth or throat, wheezing, or difficulty breathing.
