Lipo-6 and Pregnancy: An Overview
Lipo-6™ is an herbal supplement used for weight loss. It contains a few different stimulants, along with several other active ingredients. Most of these active ingredients have not been shown to be safe for use during pregnancy.
Is Lipo-6 Safe During Pregnancy?
Lipo-6 contains stimulants, such as synephrine and caffeine. These stimulants may not be safe for use during pregnancy. Consuming caffeine when pregnant is a controversial issue. Many women completely cut out caffeine during pregnancy, while others take a moderate approach, limiting their intake to a reasonable amount (such as one cup of coffee a day). Studies have also shown conflicting results concerning the safety of caffeine during pregnancy
(see Caffeine and Pregnancy).
At this time, it is not known if Lipo-6 is safe for pregnant women (or for anyone, for that matter, since it has not been adequately studied). Because so little is known about the risks of using Lipo-6 products during pregnancy (and because of the lack of clear benefit from taking it), pregnant women should probably avoid Lipo-6 products. In addition, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric and nutritional need, not usually a time to be dieting or trying to lose weight.
Lipo-6 and Pregnancy: Final Thoughts
If you are pregnant, do not take Lipo-6 without your healthcare provider's approval. If you are concerned about your weight gain during pregnancy, please talk with your healthcare provider
