Hydroxycut and Breastfeeding

Hydroxycut weight-loss supplements contain a variety of different active ingredients (including caffeine), which could cause potential problems in a nursing baby. No research has been done on Hydroxycut and breastfeeding to determine if these ingredients pass through breast milk, or if they would cause harm to a breastfed infant. However, many Hydroxycut products contain caffeine, which can cause poor sleeping, irritability, and a decreased appetite in a breastfed infant.

Is Hydroxycut Safe During Breastfeeding?

Hydroxycut and Breastfeeding: What Does the Research Say?

For almost all of the active ingredients in Hydroxycut products, no research has been done to see if they pass through breast milk, or if they would cause any problems in a breastfed infant. However, it is reasonable to assume that the caffeine in Hydroxycut could cause problems, such as poor sleeping, irritability, and decreased appetite in a breastfed infant.

It is important to remember that breastfeeding is typically a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need for most women, not a time to be dieting. It is important to eat a well-balanced diet while breastfeeding.
