CortiSlim and Pregnancy

It is typically not recommended to diet and use weight-loss drugs (including CortiSlim) during pregnancy, as this is a time for increased caloric intake and nutritional need. Also, no adequate studies on CortiSlim and pregnancy have been published to show the safety and effectiveness of the product. Because taking CortiSlim is never medically necessary, pregnant women should probably not take the product.

An Overview of CortiSlim and Pregnancy

CortiSlim^®products are weight-loss supplements that contain a variety of different active ingredients. Most of these ingredients have not been shown to be safe for use during pregnancy.

CortiSlim Safety During Pregnancy

Most CortiSlim products contain stimulants (such as caffeine, guarana, and bitter orange), as well as several other active ingredients. It is often recommended that pregnant women limit their caffeine intake (see Caffeine and Pregnancy), and it is not known if the other stimulants are safe for pregnant women. Additionally, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, not usually a time to be dieting or trying to lose weight.

Because so little is known about the risks of using CortiSlim products during pregnancy (and because of the lack of clear benefit for taking CortiSlim), it is probably a good idea for pregnant women to avoid CortiSlim products.
