Because no adequate studies have been done on Akavar and pregnancy, there is not enough information to determine whether it is safe to take when pregnant. In general, pregnancy is not a time for dieting or trying to lose weight. Akavar and Pregnancy: An Overview

Akavar™-20/50 products are weight loss supplements that contain a variety of different active ingredients. Most of these ingredients have not been shown to be safe for use during pregnancy.

Is Akavar Safe During Pregnancy?

Akavar contains caffeine, as well as other active ingredients that contain caffeine. Pregnant women are often advised to limit their caffeine intake (see Caffeine and Pregnancy), and it is not known if the other active ingredients are safe for pregnant women. In addition, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, not usually a time to be dieting or trying to lose weight.

Because so little is known about the risks of using Akavar products during pregnancy (and because of the lack of clear benefit for taking it), it is probably a good idea for pregnant women to avoid Akavar products.

Akavar and Pregnancy: Final Thoughts
