Adipex Sexual Side Effects
Certain sexual problems have been reported by people taking Adipex. Sexual side effects may include erectile dysfunction and changes in libido (either increased sex drive, low sex drive, or both). If you develop any of these Adipex sexual side effects, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider so he or she can recommend treatment, adjust your dosage, or prescribe another weight-loss medication.
Adipex-P® (phentermine) is known to cause certain sexual side effects. These Adipex-P sexual side effects may include:
Adipex and Impotence
Adipex-P is known to cause impotence in men. Impotence is often defined as a total inability to achieve erection, an inconsistent ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain only brief erections. Ultimately, impotence is the repeated inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. The exact percentage of men who have problems with impotence while taking Adipex-P has not been reported.
Adipex and Sex Drive
Adipex-P has been reported to cause changes in sex drive. However, the exact percentage of people who experienced sex drive changes due to Adipex-P has not been reported, and it is not clear whether these changes involve an increased sex drive, low sex drive, or both.
It is impossible for your healthcare provider to know whether you will develop any of these Adipex-P sexual side effects. Also, if a person does develop sexual side effects, it is challenging to know whether these problems are actually caused by Adipex-P or other factors.
If you develop sexual side effects while taking Adipex-P, make sure to talk with your healthcare provider. There is treatment that he or she may be able to recommend. Depending on how severe your Adipex-P sexual side effects are, he or she may also recommend that you adjust your Adipex-P dosage or try another weight-loss treatment.
