Accelis and Pregnancy

There is insufficient information about the safety of Accelis and pregnancy to determine whether it is safe to take the diet pills when pregnant. However, the manufacturer of Accelis recommends that women who are pregnant should not take the weight loss pills. Also, pregnancy is not a time to be experimenting with weight loss pills, as this is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need (not a time for dieting).

An Overview of Accelis and Pregnancy

Accelis™ is a non-prescription herbal supplement that is advertised as a product that helps people lose weight. Almost no information is available about the use of Accelis during pregnancy. Therefore, it is a good idea to avoid Accelis products while pregnant. In fact, the manufacturer of Accelis states that pregnant women should not take Accelis.

Is Accelis Safe for Pregnant Women?

There is not enough information to determine whether Accelis is safe for use during pregnancy. Pregnancy is not the time to be experimenting with supplements that have not been shown to be safe, as the potential benefits cannot possibly outweigh the possible (unknown) risks. Also, pregnancy is a time of increased caloric intake and nutritional need, not a time to be trying to lose weight.

If you are pregnant, do not take Accelis without your healthcare provider's approval. Also, if you are concerned about your weight gain during pregnancy, please talk with your healthcare provider (see Pregnancy Weight Gain for additional information).
