Benefits of Acai

How Does Acai Work?

The acai berry contains a variety of different substances and compounds, such as proteins, lipids, vitamins, minerals and nutrients, anthrocyanins, and flavonoids. It is a rich source of antioxidants.

There is some evidence that acai berry may inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, at least in "test tube" studies. Theoretically, this could be how acai berry might work for arthritis or other inflammatory conditions.

Acai Benefits for Children

It is unknown if acai is more beneficial in children than other similar fruits, which are easier to find and less expensive. There is no scientific evidence that it really works to treat or prevent any medical condition in children.
